2012 – INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF COOPERATIVES
2012 announced by the United Nations as the International Year of Cooperatives fulfilled its mission. It raised the public awareness as to the role and contribution of the cooperatives to the creation of a better world. With its multitude of interesting and important events organised in all global regions the International Year of Cooperatives remained a remarkable year in the history of the global cooperative movement.
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATIVE DAY
By virtue of UN Resolution since 1923 the International Cooperative Day is celebrated every year on the first Saturday of July. It is aimed at promoting the advantages of the cooperative business model and the ideas of international solidarity, economic stability, equality and world peace.
The celebration of this holiday unites and enhances the visibility and importance of the cooperatives in the creation of a better world for the mankind.
